IET's Waste Gasification / Thermal Oxidation technology (WG/TO) is designed specifically to provide high volume reduction (over 90%) for most kinds of solid and liquid wastes with environmentally acceptable stack emissions, while providing for an easy means for 100% recycling of all aluminum, metals, glass and the residual minerals and salts.

Independent testing of the WG/TO has been conducted for over ten years by various third party laboratories, including the Western Research Institute in Laramie, Wyoming, Core Laboratories, York Environmental, AMTEST and other US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified laboratories. The exhaust emissions pass even the most stringent current and proposed US EPA standards and the residual minerals and salts passes the US EPA Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) test.
With its modular design, the WG/TO can be easily adapted to a vast array of daily capacities, from less than 1 ton per day to several thousand tons per day. The picture above is of a 100 ton per day MSW plant. Each cell is designed to hold approximately 20 tons of municipal solid waste. This allows one cell to be empty each day for clean-out and routine preventative maintenance.
The WG/TO is a waste disposal process which converts combustible organic material from its existing state into a Btu-rich alternative fuel (known as gasification). This resulting gas product is then mixed with ambient air and used as an alternative to fossil fuels in on-site processes such as hot water, steam, refrigeration, power generation or agricultural uses. Waste is loaded directly into the primary gasification cells from the trucks (see illustration) to eliminate additional waste handling which would increase operating costs (the primary gasification cells may also be loaded by conveyor or other material handling devices). The system operations have been simplified to the point where there is no need for highly trained specialists, and can be operated by individuals having a basic high school education and reasonable mechanical aptitude. This too helps lower operating costs, giving the WG/TO a tremendous advantage over other types of waste treatment and allowing it to compete in most markets on a ton-for-ton cost basis with landfilling.
The result is a system capable of eliminating the need for landfilling while providing a quiet, environmentally safe and cost-effective solution to our solid waste problems through 100% resource recovery and recycling.
